Having been banished from his lair in the Blackrock Mountain, Ragnaros has launched a campaign in Hyjal, seeking to destroy the World Tree Nordrassil. The Avengers of Hyjal, led by Malfurion Stormrage, has gathered a force of warriors to fight back against Ragnaros and his army from the Firelands. Whereas the Guardians of Hyjal seek to protect the World Tree from Ragnaros and his forces, the Avengers of Hyjal seek to end the threat of Ragnaros once and for all. To this end, they look to take the fight to Ragnaros himself in the heart of the Firelands. Though a difficult mission, they have managed to secure enough of the Firelands to establish a base camp. They will continue to battle the forces of Ragnaros until he is no longer a threat to Hyjal and the World Tree.

Made up of Alliance forces, soldiers in Baradin's Wardens come from all over Azeroth, including Kul Tiras. The Dragonmaw Clan is a group of orcs that can trace it's ancestry back to Draenor. When the Horde and Alliance forces first clashed, the Dragonmaw Clan came to Azeroth and pledged themselves to fight with Warchief Blackhand. The Dragonmaw Clan would continue to serve the Horde Warchiefs until forming an alliance with Deathwing. With the power given to the Dragonmaw Clan by Deathwing, the Dragonmaw Clan enslaved the red dragons, including Queen Alexstrasza. This made the Dragonmaw Clan invaluable to the Horde during the second war between the Horde and Alliance as the Dragonmaw Clan forced the red dragons to fight alongside the Horde. Despite this, the Horde lost the war and the Dragonmaw Clan lost control of the red dragons. Furious at their years of captivity, the red dragons destroyed Grim Batol, forcing the Dragonmaw Clan to run and hide, taking refuge in the Wetlands and Twilight Highlands. There, they remained relatively quiet aside from a minor clash here or there with the Wildhammer Clan. Powerless, they pledged themselves to Illidan Stormrage and took to their old tricks, enslaving the nether dragons found in Shadowmoon Valley. They would later be recruited by Garrosh Hellscream to join the modern Horde.

The Guardians of Hyjal are a group of warriors that aim to protect Mount Hyjal and Nordrassil, the World Tree. Led by an amalgamation of heroes, including Malfurion Stormrage, Ysera, Cenarius, and Malorne, the Guardians of Hyjal are a defensive counterpart to their more offensive wing, the Avengers of Hyjal. Because of the importance of Nordrassil, the Guardians of Hyjal seek to protect Mount Hyjal from any adversaries. The group initially formed after a battle waged bewteen Archimonde and the warriors of Azeroth. Most recently, Mount Hyjal has faced a threat of epic proportions as Ragnaros, recently banished to the Firelands, has led a charge to reduce Nordrassil into a smoldering pile of ash.

Warriors in Hellscream's Reach are handpicked by the Warchief Garrosh Hellscream. Their mission is to relieve the Alliance of their control over Tol Barad prison. While Hellscream's Reach doesn't care one way or another for the prisoners inside, the armory attached to the prison boasts of mighty weapons and armors that have been taken by the Alliance over the year. While Deathwing's presence threatens the prosperity of both the Horde and the Alliance, Warchief Garrosh Hellscream sees this as an opportunity to strike a mighty blow to the Alliance. It would take a valuable resource away from the Alliance and establish a foothold from which the Horde could launch a future campaign against Alliance forces.

The Ramkahen are a group of catlike people that reside in Uldum. They are descended from the tol'vir that were charged with guarding the tombs of the titans. To this end, the Ramkahen continue their ancestor's charge by guarding tombs all across Uldum. When Deathwing returned to Azeroth, he offered a choice to the Ramkahen people: join with him and the wind lord, Al'Akir and he would restore their stone bodies, lost long ago. The Ramkahen refused, seeing how the devastation that Deathwing would inevitably unleash across Azeroth would be catastrophic to their ancient charge. However, a group of tol'vir known as the Neferset tribe accepted Deathwing's bargain. This naturally pitted the two factions against one another. They intended to double cross Deathwing however and sought to overthrow Al'Akir. Both Deathwing and Al'Akir were ultimately defeated before the Neferset tribe could act.

The Earthen Ring is a group of shamans that look to maintain balance among the elements. The Earthen Ring consists of shamans from both the Horde and the Alliance and includes former Warchief Thrall as a member. When Deathwing returned to Azeroth, he came in through Deepholm. This destruction caused a rift in the elemental plane. The Earthen Ring stepped in to repair the damage caused by Deathwing. Deathwing also managed to inadvertently destroy the World Pillar, providing yet another world threatening issue that only the Earthen Ring could deal with. As Deathwing grew stronger and stronger, the Earthen Ring obtained and charged the Dragon Soul, hoping to use it's powerful to stop Deathwing once and for all. While they were ultimately successful, the Earthen Ring lost many members on that fateful day.

Therazane, the Stone Mother, is the elemental lord of earth. She has existed since before the time of the old gods. Though she and Neptulon initially opposed the old gods, Therazane was ultimately defeated and became a slave to their will. She was finally defeated by Freya when she and Archaedas were tasked by the titans to overthrow the old gods. Upon her defeat, Therazane was imprisoned inside Deepholm. When Deathwing returned to Azeroth via Deepholm, he caused a lot of destruction to Therazane's dominion. This naturally put her in direct conflict with Deathwing, unlike Ragnaros and Al'Akir. Therazane cares not for mortals but views them as instruments, capable of eradicating the nuisance of the Twilight's Hammer and repairing the damage caused by Deathwing. With her help, the World Pillar is ultimately repaired, having been previously been destroyed by Deathwing.

The Wildhammer Clan is a group of dwarves that have had a somewhat rocky relationship with the Alliance. At one point in the clan's history, they sought to take control of Ironforge. They lost a battle between the Bronzebeard Clan who had allied themselves with the dark iron dwarves. After this defeat, the Wildhammer Clan wandered, eventually settling in the Twilight Highlands and created their own kingdom near Grim Batol. During this time, the dark iron dwarves sought revenge for atrocies commited over the battle for Ironforge and attacked both the Bronzebeard Clan as well as the Wildhammer Clan. The dark iron sorceress, Modgud, led the attack against Grim Batol. Though she was ultimately defeated, the dark magic she used made Grim Batol unhabitable for the dwarves who then migrated to the Hinterlands. During the second war between the Horde and the Alliance, the Wildhammer Clan sided with the Alliance, though still distrustful of other dwarves. In recent times, the chief of the Wildhammer Clan, Falstad Wildhammer, has been asked to served in the Council of Three Hammers, ruling over Ironforge. This gesture has firmly cemented the Wildhammer Clan as part of the Alliance.
