As both the Alliance and the Horde look to advance their campaigns to Nazjatar, each faction allies itself with different enemies of Azshara. Upon exploration of the region, the Alliance encounters the Ankoan. They are naturally drawn toward the Ankoan as they are similar to the jinyu, a race found in Pandaria that the Alliance allied themselves with.

The Ankoan, like the Unshackled, are enemies of Queen Azshara. Whereas the Unshackled were enslaved by Queen Azshara and the naga, the Ankoan were hunted and slaughtered by the forces of Queen Azshara.

Despite allying themselves with opposite factions, the Ankoan and the Unshackled share a common enemy, Queen Azshara. Historically, the Alliance and the Horde have been able to put aside their differences in the interest of saving Azeroth. They fought together to defeat the Lich King, Deathwing, Garrosh Hellscream, and the Burning Legion.

Queen Azshara has present throughout the modern history of Azeroth. Until recently, she has confided herself to her kingdom under the sea. But beginning in Legion, she began to interfere directly with the events in Azeroth.

While I do not think that this one event will be the cause of uniting the Horde and Alliance and thereby ending the war, I do think that these events will set into motion the endgame which will lead to the end of the war between the Horde and the Alliance.
