Thunder Bluff

Thunder Bluff is the capital city of the tauren. Located in Mulgore, Thunder Bluff consists of a city built across several plateaus that overlook the rest of Mulgore. Throughout their history, the tauren had been troubled by the violent centaurs and usually found themselves the losers of these conficts. Chieftain Cairne Bloodhoof entreated the aid of the orcs. Together, the orcs and the taurens were able to defeat the centaurs and claim Mulgore in the name of the taurens. It was there that Cairne had the serene city of Thunder Bluff built, a safe haven for his people. This act of brotherhood led the tauren to join with the Horde. When Thrall chose Garrosh Hellscream as his successor, Cairne Bloodhoof disagreed and challenged Garrosh to a duel. The duel was to the death with Garrosh emerging as the victor. Shortly after this, Thunder Bluff was overtaken by Magatha Grimtotem who slaughtered many of the citizens of Thunder Bluff. It was only through the combined efforts of Jevan Grimtotem and Jaina Proudmoore that Blaine Bloodhoof, Cairne's son and newly chosen chieftan of the tauren, was able to defeat Magatha Grimtotem and expel her followers from Thunder Bluff. Thunder Bluff is often viewed by outsiders as a center of peace and enlightenment.
