The Knights of the Ebon Blade are a group of death knights that have freed themselves from the Lich King's control and now do battle against their former master. The first Knight of the Ebon Blade was Darion Mograine, who broke free from the Lich King during the battle at Light's Hope Chapel. He then sided with Tirion Fordring and forced the Lich King to retreat to Northrend along with his scourge army. These death knights were originally raised by the Lich King to serve as his elite troops. Their mandate was to destroy both the Scarlet Crusade and the Argent Dawn. Alexandros Mograine's intervention broke the Lich King's control of his son Darion, the first of the death knights to break free of their former master. They now pledge themselves to overthrowing the Lich King at all costs.
