Forgive me father, it’s been 9 months since my last confes…errr…blog post. I’m going to try and post more often but what’s the saying about the best laid plans between mice and men?

I haven’t updated the site in some time, largely due to the pandemic. As my kids were around more, I found that I had less free time to make updates. Additionally, I just haven’t been driven to work on the site. While I had made the site initially as a free tool, I had hoped with a relatively small premium section along with Google ads on the site, I would be able to make a little bit of money off of it, at least enough to cover the server costs.

However, that just hasn’t happened. Not even a little bit. I think perhaps I overestimated how much people would use a tool like this and while it draws a decent amount of traffic, I’ve made a grand total of $8.00 from Google Ads since they launched on the site, well over a year ago.

I’ve gone through several iterations of what I want to do with the site next. Everything from removing premium subscriptions altogether and just adding a donate button to completely shutting the site down.

What I’ve decided to do instead however is completely change direction of the site. While the reputation calculator will always exist in some manner, going forward, it will only be one of many tools that I have in mind that I’d like to build. As with the reputation calculator, there will be a free version and most likely a premium version that has additional features.

I’m also going to try and write more, not just about reputation updates. In all honesty, there’s only so much you can write about reputation anyway.

So keep your eyes open and look out for new features in the coming months. The site will also have a new name that I have yet to decide on but there will be a redirect set up for a while so don’t worry about missing it. I will also add a blog post updating when the name has changed.

And lastly, consider buying premium if for no other reason than to support the site. Because of the nature of how payment gateways work, even though you pay more with a monthly subscription, I actually make more on annual subscriptions because the fee is only extracted once instead of twelve times.
